Saturday 25th April - bike **** - Felixstowe to Levington Marina – Cloudy start then sunny.

Woke to a cloudy cooler morning so were not in any hurry to do anything, so relaxing time doing exercises while Mag potters in the garden after her computer hour! Then with a sandwich packed and the clouds starting to clear we leave home around 12.45 and head for Levington marina with my bow saw to cut a tree blocking the footpath:) We take our usual tree lined route stopping to saw the fallen tree which was a bigger job than I thought and Mag and I did it in the end and then got some agricultural shots for the Grandson Arlo who we are really missing, today was tractors setting potatoes:) Sadly there were no deer or hares but we saw some buzzards and arrived at the lovely River Orwell by Loompit Lake and with the tide high it looked pretty as a picture:) A mallard has half a dozen youngsters in the lake as a tufted duck watches on. We stop at the marinas quiet BBQ area and sit on a bench for our sandwich watching the birds in the lagoon with waring swans and butterflies flitting past. Some great flowers too, blue borage and campion. I had a wonder with the camera and we saw a Bee fly which was amazing, the size of a bee but drown with a huge needle like proboscis which it used to collect nectar! We then took the lanes back to Trimley stopping at Goslings Garden Centre to get some flour, a very rare item here in Felixstowe! Then home for a welcome cuppa with some bread and some of Mags lovely homemade lemon curd:)
